It appears we may have blown our clutch because we use the wrong oil. Evidently theres a difference between reg synthetic oil and that used for motorcycle engines???? What oil should we be using and whats the difference between the 2?

Don't know the difference but we ran a GSXR 750 at the Florida Nationals for 8 races and had no problems. I used Valvoline 20-50 synthetic racing oil no problems. I have been using Castro GTX 20-30 in my kawi all year so far no problems:)

regular synthetic car oil not what you want to use. it will lead to clutch failure. you want to use motorcycle oil regular or synthetic because it has additives for wet clutches.

I use Amsoil 20w-50 motorcycle synthetic oil. Never had any problems with the motor or clutch while using this oil.
I change the oil and filter every 4 races.

We use the same oil change interval as those posted above and regular old 10w40 Castrol Syntec. No clutch problems in 3 seasons.
