With all the talk about Spec Tire rule for next year I would like to open up another can of worms. I still beleive opening up the motor rules kept some locals away from speedweek. I know of three. Not sure of how many invaders came in from out west but beleive there was less than 10. Does that justify keeping regulars from racing during speedweek. I do like it when those guys come in from all over the country to race with us but when they can afford to put 8 to 10 grand in one of their multi motors they can afford 2 grand to run one of our motors. And with the cost of fuel they may think twice about even coming back next year. Keep the rules the same for all year, including Speedweek AND all of our Nationals. DB

While I agree with Mr. Bodine it should be pointed out that the "invaders" did not win any races and in fact only Scott Sawyer finished in the top ten in points. We finished second at Trailway and won at Lanco and we were running the same legal motor we always run with the same gears.

Like i said in the past The "Invaders" are not what I am worried about. It is the fact that everybody has to turn the rpms up and take the chance of hurting a motor for the few invaders that come. I am sure that the guys with the dynos had a big increase in buisness the weeks prior to speedweek (including me). Just do not know why we need the added expense. We adopted the motor rules for a reason, to control expenses but throw them out the window for the biggest week of the year. Someone that supports a track all season should not have to go out and get a hot box for one week to be competitive. I already have everything I need to run these shows but someone getting into the 600s should not have the added expense. I just feel that anyone should be able to run any of the speedweek shows(and be competitive) with out having to change anything on their car.

I don't want to sound rude, but you always have the option of not racing.

I personally think that racing with the visitors is a great thing. It shows how you stack up with others in the country. i know Trip and Dan are working on it. let's see what they have from the surveys they did.

speaking of surveys i hope everyone took the time to fill out the paper trip and dan handed out. by the middle of speedweek he had only had a couple returned. i personally think the pa legal rule should be the standard. the guys that traveled in can bring a legal motor with them and sell it to one of us when they leave. i also think the rev box is fine for speedweek.

We attended four of the Speedweek races and never heard or saw any surveys. How were they handed out? Why not post survey so everyone can see it and vote.

My car was entered in all the speedweek shows and I never received any survey. also we ran all Florida speedweek and had to run Florida Speedweek Rules. They did not change the rules for us to come down to race.
Although we were pretty fast at Susky , Lincoln and Lanco during Speedweek the results don't show it. We enjoyed running it. Don't change the rules for a select few, there are plenty of race cars and drivers around here that will come and race. I don't beleive the car counts were a result of letting multi motors run. Like Bodine said there were'nt many more than 10 super long distance racers anyway. The purse is what brings them in not the rules.
I plan on going to the I 30 race and they are not changing the rules to bring us in. We just like very competitive racing.

Are you talking about the 2009 PA Speedweek rules are almost ready to be announced? If so I hope the voice of the people is being heard.
FYI -I took a poll from every 600 car owner a Lindas Friday night and everyone except one voted for Pa motor rules for Speedweek. I know this has nothing to do with Speedweek but everyone except one voted for Spec tires for the entire season. I hope all tracks pick a rep soon so these types of things can be voted on for next year. Thanks Dave Bodine
