I hear it a lot that a lot of drivers like running wingless. Why don't more tracks run more wingless dates or have a whole season wingless? This is probably a stupid question but I am not a driver.

So what is your preference Wings or Wingless?

WINGLESS WINGLESS WINGLESS WINGLESS WINGLESS... did I mention WINGLESS??? If anyone is in doubt the next time USAC comes around or if you can go out to Eldora or Gas City where they run sprint cars normally without wings and that should give you a good enough reason why people like to run without the wings on.

Why not just hit an ARDC show? They're racing has improved dramatically since they took the wings off, and car counts have more than doubled.

Winged cars are going to be faster. However, big horsepower is not as important when you take the wings off. Especially on a smaller track. I am quicky becoming a big non-wing fan.

However, the biggest drawback is if you get on your head. The wing works like an airbrake and slows the car down a flipping car. Also, it cushions the hits when you get upside down.

Finally, I used to live in Texas, and they had a wingless 600 division. It was the biggest division in the area.

well ive never tried wingless but i heard it was pretty fun but a lil harder to control so idk i thing in a way i think wings are fast only because someone took out a wingless 600 vs a winged 600 and it the wingless got smoked

We have a wingless class here in Tulsa Okla. Average 35-45 cars on any given night for this division. Just had the Non-wing Nationals had a record car count for the 4 divisions of 163 cars.

every track in OK has a "nonwing" stock class, including the Tulsa Shootout. Perhaps NE tracks should start a stock NW class, which would open up more doors for entry into the sport considering a stock 600cc engine pkg is far more affordable than a multi/outlaw built motor.
