Usually when a bearing starts to click whether new or old its defective... I use double row on my rear axle and they work great.... If you are using the single row there might be to much pressure on them compared to the amount of ball bearings... I think the single row have about half the amount of ball bearings as the double! I clean and grease mine every week and I have about 20 races on them without a problem...

Usually when you hear a clicking sound from a ball type bearing usually indicates the cage has at least one or more bearing separators broken allowing the bearing balls to touch each other. This means replacement is necessary. An excessively bent axle can cause premature bearing failure too. Personally I would prefer timken taper type bearings as they last forever which Hyper and Stallard only have on their front axles.

Mine wasn't a problem and didn't slow the car doown from rolling. could it be something with the splines wheels not tight? how loud is it? and does it make it hard to push?

All it takes is a slight misalignment or tension adjustment and you will hear that?????????? Not usually bearings if kept up properly!!!!!!!! Although that would be the first place I look!!!!!!! A slightly bent chain guide, slightly loose chain after driver mounts car, etc!!!!!!!!! Basically all adjustments should be tried to be made with driver or equivalent weight in car!!!!!!!!!! To be honest, I too picked up that sound, when I got rid of the weightjacker and went to tie down L/R!!!!!!!!!! Something is prob just not dialed in properly!!!!!!!!! After thinking about it, getting rid of the weightjacker prob thru my birdcage timing alignment slightly off!!!!!!!!!! Prob why many manufacturer's recommend you do a base starting point and adjust as necessary!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've heard that clicking noise from my car as well. I did the bearing cleaning and finally replaced them and I still heard the noise. I finally took the rear axle assembly apart and cleaned the splines and the bearing inserts, then re-assembled everything using lots of anti-seize compound. I never heard the clicking sound again. I assume it was something to do with the spacers moving around or something like that.

Its the aluminum spavers. If you get them anodized they hold up better and dont make that clicking noise till much later in the season, never-seeze works too.
