Greetings from Australia. :)
Just some information of what has been happening Downunder....
Australian Lightning Sprint Racing Association Formed
N A S R National Office posted Wednesday August 19, 2009.
A monumental step forward was achieved in Melbourne last weekend with the formation of the Australian Lightning Sprint Racing Association, which brings together several medium sized, winged speedway classes from five states. Litre Sprints from Queensland and New South Wales, Minisprints from Tasmania and Victoria and V6 Sprints from South Australia will now race under the one category.
The positive outcome was the result of a long process of consultation and negotiation. Representatives from each of the above mentioned states, along with NASR General Manager Dale Gilson and NASR Chairman Neil Sayer, attended the meeting.
The new national association’s committee has been elected as follows:
President - Peter Campbell from QLD
Vice President - Peter Kruska from TAS
2nd Vice President - Clayton Priest from NSW
Secretary/Treasurer - Colin Bell from NSW
2nd Secretary/Treasurer - Bronwyn Sheen from VIC
General Committee - Lee Payne from SA
General Committee - Michael Buxallen from SA
General Committee - Chris Milton from VIC
General Committee - Tim Mason from TAS
General Committee - Bruce Ayers from QLD
The committee would like to acknowledge, with thanks, the assistance and advice given by both Dale and Neil.
For the immediate future the individual specifications of each previous class will be recognised and eligible to compete at meetings held in any of the states involved. It is anticipated that the inaugural Australian Lightning Sprint Championship will be conducted in the upcoming 2009/10 season, which will no doubt be a highly prized and hotly contested event.
