In my opinion Minisprints are the best bang for your buck class going right now for the hobby racer or racer looking to step up to full size cars. They give you the feel of a fullsize sprint with out fullsize costs involved.
Minisprints chassis are basically a midget chassis with a 1000 to 1200cc motorcycle engine in them.
The two main chassis being run here on the east coast anyway would be Henchcraft and Bailey. I have drivin both of them. My personal opinion is the Henchcraft is a better built and better handeling chassis. Also if you are a larger guy like myself around 200lbs, the Henchcraft has a larger cockpit area.
The motors used are 1000cc to 1200cc street bike engines. The three main manufactures used are Suzuki, Kawaski and Yamaha. The choice of motor is up to the user as most sactions have a weight rule for different motor displacement. The larger the motor cc's , the more the car and driver will need to weigh.
Motors and be run on race gas or methanol.
Chassis wheelbases are from 60" up to 72". The rear is a live axel that is chain driven.
Top wings are Max. 16sq.ft.
Wheels are 13in. with the Right Rear having a Max. circumference of 82ins. allowed.
Suspensions can either be coil over springs or torsion bar style.
With the upright style chassis, Minisprints give you more the feel of a fullsize car as opposed to a 600 chassis where you are more layed out inside the car. And with the motors putting out around 170 to close to 200 horsepower the cars can lay you back into the seat coming off a corner.
I am a big fan of this class and would love to see it grow in the Pa area where sprint cars are more prevalent.
