The Hoosier tires 600 modifieds will travel to northern Pa and Ny states for several year end shows. Penn Can Speedway will host the mighty modifieds on Sept. 13th as part of their King of the Can weekend. With an expected field of over 40 cars, Reed Miller and Al Wilcox have increased the feature to thirty laps. “ The series always put a good show on for the fans at Penn Can. We will be running our series point finale that weekend. Mike Keppler only has to show up and he will be our 2008 season champion. Places 2nd thru 5th will be decided along with Rookie of the Year. I want to thank Reed and Al for inviting us to compete on their biggest weekend of the year.” stated Doug Borger. Gates will open at 3:00 with racing to start at 6:00. Check out their website for news and updates at www.penncan.com.
Next on the card will be a return to Thunder Mountain Speedway, which is located in Lisle, Ny. Promoters Dick and Shelley Stark wanted to give the fans a great weekend of racing for the Hurricane Memorial weekend set for Sept. 26th and the 27th . “We are excited to welcome back the series for the Sept. 27th show. We always have had a great show and some of their best races have been a this track.” Dick stated. Brian Mady states “ When Doug had announced the addition of Thunder Mountain, I know a lot of drivers were excited. We have run a 50 lap feature with many drivers worried about fuel, which was not a problem, so to run a 30 lap feature with no fuel issues, I know the drivers will put on one heck of a show”. Surprises will be in store for the weekend so keep yourself in the loop at www.thunderracetrack.com.
Doug Borger is pleased to announce the expansion of the 600 modified series. Bob Tim ,owner of Oakridge Fabrications, located in Minnesota, has established a western division. He was a dealer for another small car series but after seeing how economical the series is decided to branch out. “A big part of the decision process was the weekly expenses, motor cost, service and support that Doug would be able to offer”, Bob stated, I look forward to working with him in the future and expanding to become one of the premier series out west.
October will finish out the year for the Hoosier Tire 600 modifeds. A howling good time will be had at Grandview Speedway on the 18th for the final Thunder on the Hill series then it’s back up to New York state for a double feature night at Five Mile Point Speedway for their National Quarter Mile Dirt Track Championship Weekend on Oct. 25th.
