Looking to enter motorsports at 30 years old and have track by me that has Slingshots and Micro Sprints. I have been aroud racing for about 15 years in as a spectator and pit crew responsoblities with a Dirt Modified. Which should I start with. I would like to start with Micro but trying to get some advice before I invest my money. I have the finances for either. My eventual goal is to enter the SpeedSTR series at another track by me. Thanks for your advice.

They both are fun, I race a 270 micro... It depends really on what you wanna do... The only thing that I can say between the both is that micros are very high maintenance compared to a slingshot...

i.e.
engine maintenance is huge... if you want to be competitive you need to rebuild the top end every few races... the engines are pretty touchy to air density, to lean there goes a piston and a lot of time messes up the cylinder too...

The other thing is that the slingshots are a lot easier to drive than a micro but the micro's are usually a hell of a lot faster...


I'm not by any means trying to steer you towards a slingshot but w/ a micro be prepared to spend the cash... Especially the first few times your out on the track, the front ends bend up really easy...
