I see on microoutlaws.com that ASCS2 has approved a 4 gallon fuel cell designed for Micros . It's sold by RCI, for $325. Looks like exactly the solution we need for greater safety at a reasonable price.

can you post a pick of it here.
I saw that too. With the significant price difference versus a bladder, I think it warrants some looking into by the U6SA.

It looks alot like the fuel cell Henchcraft uses in his Sidewinder and Mini Sprints.

looks like with a little bracing you could mount it under a tank shell. not sure it would look right mounted to the right side.

We would need to submit a rule change for the September meeting of the U6SA reguarding the word "bladder", the way the rule reads now, this tank would not be legal, because it does not have a bladder. How would we determine which tanks would need a bladder and which ones would not?
I am not sure if maybe it would be better to mandate that every U6SA track have a trained, full suited fireman at the track with the proper equipment. And save the money on bladders. After all, bladders are not going to stop all fires, maybe only 20% of them in my opinion. Thoughts?

agreed 100%
There are also pictures of an install over at microoutlaws.com
Mike, I agree with you but I think the percentage of fires that would be prevented by the use of a bladder may be even lower than 20%. (Just my opinion) I also understand what you're saying about needing to submit a rule change and I would like to talk to you about it.(I'll stop by your trailer on Saturday night)

I also agree that there should be AT LEAST one full suited properly trained fire person with the proper fire equipment. One would be great but in all reality there should be one at each end of the track. I know this is putting alot of burden on the track owners but the time it takes to get from one end of the track to the other may mean alot. I know the fuel cell does not stop all fires but I would think it would stop the chance of fuel leakage buy alot more than 20% and I have already seen at least two regular tanks fail already this year. Luckily there was no fire. Is there a way to wire the car so the electric fuel pump turns off if the car stalls?

There once was a mandatory fuel shut off relay we had to use. It turned off the fuel pump when the oil pressure dropped to 0. The problem now with fuel injection is we need fuel pressure to start the engine. We could put in a bypass switch, but I think it is way to much wiring.

i'm sure the local fire company would train the track personel on how to extinquish a fuel or oil fire. they could probably even give them some of there older equipment.
for a nominal fee the fire company i would assume could have a presence at the track. I for one would pay a higher entry for the added pc of mind knowing they could handle a fire properly.

Is there a max fuel capacity that the bladder tank can be? I have a 16 gal tail tank I want to change the bladder, I dont want to buy a 16 gal bladder and later find out you cant have that capacity.

The technology is already in the fuel injected bikes. If you power a seperate fuel pump relay with the trigger wire as the bike fuel pump power wire you can use the bikes logic (runs the pump for 2 seconds when switch is turned on and restarts when cranking and running and powers off when the engine stalls or the tip over switch is activated) without putting extra drain on the bikes power harness that the larger fuel pumps need. I know this works because I ran my 06 zx636 motor this way last year and my 07 zx10 motor that way this year.
