One of my guys down here is going to try running a stock 2006 Suzuki on Alcohol with clutches and power valve.
On a high speed track how is he likely to do against a Honda 270cc?

If he was racing in central PA he would get killed. Honda 270's around here are making some serious HP. Craig DeSantis

I dunno the new RM's are built just like a 90s-01 cr motor. that doesnt mean it'll run like one, but u know...

i know my 95rm motor, wont touch a stock bore stock stroke honda

I say try the suzuki. Its not all about the motors. If you have a decent motor and you can drive good you can finish in the top 5 every week. Suzuki and yamaha run top in the 250 motorcross classes now just add some alcohol to these motors and bore them out a little and......

drive fast & take chances

After the race friday night I was suprised that it did so well, first off the alki carb fit right in the stock boot and the ESR pipe fit right in the cylinder, no fabrication required in that reguard.
The engine plates had to be modified from a honda setup to suzuki, suzuki is a tad shorter.
The track is a highly banked 1/4 asphalt track, typical times are around 11.2-11.5 sec a lap:D.
Gearing on this track is 14/36 14/37 ( no shift ) but with the stock 13 front sproket the lowest we had for him was a 35 rear so the gearing was a tooth or 2 different.
During the feature his times were just a tick off, lets say the leaders had a full straight in front after 12 laps.
I was suprised that it ran so well full STOCK with clutches and no port work against big bore strokers:o ( DBY with billet crank ) .
Granted we are full throttle wide open on this track no lift in the corner. Of course if we had to shift and come out of a slow corner the gap would be much larger
I fully expected the Honda to walk off and it did but not by much.
I was also suprised that the suzuki squish band was at .043  stock.

Even if the power can be matched to the honda there still is a availabilty factor that would be hard to overcome:rolleyes:.
