TYLER BARTIK TAKES FIRST WIN OF THE YEAR WITH A TRIP TO THUNDER MOUNTAIN SPEEDWAY

Which was smoother? No one knows the answer. On Sat. April 30th Thunder Mountain Speedway, located in Lisle, NY., provided the smoothest track to date and Tyler Bartik never twitched as he lead wire to wire for his first 2011 season win.
“Coming into 2011 as the past years champion does make you step it up a notch knowing everybody compares last year to this year. I could never quit put my foot on this place except for tonight and now we sit in victory lane.” Tyler stated as the car was being teched.
Kevin Rex jr., Richie Hitzler and Cody Coons showed the 24 cars that had signed in for the night’s events the fast way around taking the heat wins.
After great track prep by the crew during intermission, the mighty modifieds were called to the grid ready to race. George Loux, driver of #48g sponsored Campbell Supply Co. of Pa., and Bartik led the field into turn one side by side with Nick Mady right on the bumper. A caution on lap #5 would reset the field with the top three remaining the same. Making it three wide coming out of turn two would make someone back down and Mady wisely made the choice for the next lap would see Loux go pit side with a mechanical issue.
Not only was the action up front heavy, Aaron Bowes brought the family owned #64 from last place fighting Pasco Tomaino for a top ten run. Sixth place seemed to be the spot to be as Ryan Higgs, Brian “Big Daddy” Mady and Alec Bartholomew kept it three wide for two full circuits before Higgs would have the edge. Mady would pull under neath Higgs in three and four only to have Higgs pull off. While Mady kept busy with Higgs, Rookie of the Year contender Bartholomew watched and learned and on the white flag lap got under Mady in turns one and two but Mady had one more trick up his sleeve and saved just enough room to take the spot back coming out of turn four to the checkers.
During all the action midfield, Bartik had set a good cushion of room in front of Mady and Cory Coons only to see it lost on a late caution. Could Mady or Coons keep Bartik close enough to make the pass and claim the top spot.
Nick Mady had watched Tyler’s line for two laps and decided if it’s working for him let me try it. The line was definitely the way around as Mady gained ground on Bartik but ran out of laps giving him his second place finish for the night. “Tyler ran a great line all night, I figured I had nothing to lose and everything to gain, I just should have tried it sooner than later.” stated Mady,: I would also like to thank Doug Borger for the increased payout tonight. The series has a sliding pay out scale and with 24 cars it would have been the low tier but he decided to leave it on the higher tier. This is why we stay here in this series. Doug not only looks out for the series but the guys who run it too.”
“ Dude that was so much fun,” Bartholomew stated as he talked to Ryan Higgs and Brian Mady,
I learn so much running with Brian. I usually can get by him but then he always gets me back. One day I’ll make it stick and when that happens, it’ll feel like a win.”
The Xcel Chassis 600 modifieds make their second appearance at Five Mile Point Speedway, located in Kirkwood, NY. On May 7th followed by a double header for Memorial Day weekend. Check out all the racing action at www.xcelchassis.com
