MADY AND HIGGS VICTORIOUS
AT FIVE MILE POINT SPEEDWAY

Double features would be on the agenda for the Hoosier Tire 600 modifieds. Twenty-two cars signed in for the days event. It was good to see the #48 of George Loux and the #61 of Mark Schaffer pulling in to the pits after the wild ride they both took at Grandview Speedway on Oct. 18th. Butch Getz hoped to take momentum from his win at Grandview and bring the Rich Everitt owned 4jr back to victory lane.
The make-up feature from August would be the first event run. Nick Mady, driver of the 77x, would lead the field to the green along with Mark Schaffer. With a full field of cars, the racing action would quickly heat up and the fans would not be disappointed. Chris Stockham, driver of the #44, and Getz found there way to the bumper of Mady by lap nine. A three way battle for the next 11 laps would put the spectators on their feet.
At lap # 16 Stockham would dive to the bottom coming into turn 1 and edge the car by Mady with Getz right on his bumper. Mady kept the momentum and would execute a text book slide job in turn 3 and 4 to keep the top spot. Getz took advantage and wheeled his powerplant side by side with Stockham. Great side by side racing for the next 3 laps would see Getz look for the opening he needed and take it coming out of turn 4 on the final lap crossing the checkers behind Mady and Stockham finishing third. Brian Mady earned hard charger coming from 22nd and finishing 7th.
After some quick changes, the cars hit the track for the qualify heats. Everybody would be on their game with the preview from the feature. Rich Eisinger would take the first heat and with a flip of the coin invert the top three from all 3 heats. Previous series winners, Ryan Higgs, and George Loux would set the field. A tangle on the third lap would see the #50 of Bob Luckenbaugh and Butch Getz restart at the rear fo the field putting Higgs on the point followed by the #2 of Brian Mady. Cody Coons has come on strong at the end of season and was looking for his first win. Duplicating the first feature all three diced it up for the remainder of the race. Higgs would earn his victory by holding off hard charging Mady and Coons. On lap #18, the caution would set up a green white checkered. Mady would realize his left rear tire had gone down , tried to hold off Coons but to no avail which earned him his best finish of the year. As Ryan pulled into tech, he stated “I thought my fuel filter had clogged up coming out of four on the final lap but after looking at the car I found out I was out of fuel. It makes the win the much better”.
Ric Hill, a big block modified regular at Orange County Speedway, would substitute in the 77x of Nick Mady. After taking the wheel for hot laps and a few adjustments made to the car he was ready to go. With running Syracuse then Eastern States he was ready to have some fun. He would place the car on the grid starting 11th and lap #18 would see him on the bumper of his teammate Brian Mady.. Nick wanted to thank Ric for stepping in for him and helping the team finish both cars in the top ten for both features. Chris Stockham would garner hard charger bring home the #44 in 7th place from the 18th starting spot.
