A SALUTE TO 'OLD GLORY' AND RAIN
That headline sort of sums up the scheduled race date of June 14.

The night started, as scheduled, with a Flag Day tribute presented by the VFW Post 475 color guard and a stirring rendition of the National Anthem by Bryan Lemay, USMC Retired . There was also a "Wish List" collection of goods from our drivers and spectators for our troops overseas which will be forwarded to them by the USO.

The first race of the night was a scheduled appearance by a visiting group of the Young Guns 390 Junior Sprinters. This is a traveling group of youngsters ages 12-15. Their cars consist of a regular micro chassis with power from a Honda 390GX. Their guest appearance got off to a rather rocky start when the green flag fell on the start of their 10 lap heat race. Dan Souder, starting sixth, tangled in turn 4 which appeared to damage his steering. His car was out of control down the frontstretch finally banging the steel exit gate in turn 1 and sidelining his #11 racer. T.C Moore also had trouble with his machine before the first lap could be completed. Five of the seven competitors finished the heat with Steve Sacks taking the win. The Young Guns plan to return for another appearance later in the year.

The first Airport 125 heat then took to the track under heavy dark skies. Before the first lap could be completed, the rains came and halted all activity for the night at 7:30PM. The next Airport races will be Saturday, June 21, which will also be Bake Sale Night at the track.

Young Guns heat finish: Steve Sacks, Matthew Campbell, Madison Brensintger, Nathan Prazenica, Tanner Rumberg. DNF: T.C. Moore, Dan Souder.
