To do it right, you will need an alcohol conversion kit (airbox, rails, injectors, pump, filters, harness and power commander). Hyper racing and Guhl motors could help you out here.

ya i understand that those guys can do it all day long i was looking too talk about doing it my self and what one would do, if they have the mean"s of doing it .

We did our own first time around as well. You still need the same parts, whether you make them or buy them. You can buy fuel rail blanks online. You can get the schematics to cut down your own harness (PITA i might add). I even did my own airbox. We used stock turbo neon injectors for ours, small body style. Fuel pump is from Walbro, 255 l/hr inline, high pressure. We were ok on power compared to guhl or hyper set-ups. '05 i think it was.

Talking to guhl they can save you alot of money buy doing everything with the best possible performance without the power comanders including adjusting each 8 individual injectors. so guhl can save you a few hundred.

If the engine didn't come with 8 injectors, it don't need to have em...

haha i wasn't thinking when i said 8 but eather way they car get into most of the stock computers and do it without the powercomander.

so is 8 injector set up"s better than four ,has anyone done a test on these too see the differance"s , pro"s con"s . ive seen both but it seem like you could make the right air too fuel with the four injector , seems like if you ran 8 they would have too be smaller maybe even stocker"s or something small ? lets here some thoughts on this , i can be the only one lol .

simple really. The factories have been doing this to improve the midrange without sacrificing top end. The extra injectors come on after 10k or so and just help keep the fuel curve smooth till redline. yes, 8 are better than 4. BUT, not by a whole lot...

pita means- Pain In The Ass. I managed to convert to alky with buying a used Guhl system and power comander and fuel filter and most of the AN fittings from the swap meets. I been told by others that they just hooked up the systems, some without a power comander and it ran good. personaly I would have it dyno tuned, you may be able to get away with your stock harnes until you have the other componants coverd. I asked the pro's about converting my single injection system to a dual injection and they said for the small amount of hp gain it wouldnt be worth the extra money. better spent somewhere else.

The absolute minimum parts needed are two filters (one fine-one course), by pass regulator, fuel injectors that are double the capacity of the stock units, hi pressure fuel pump, in line shut off valve, fuel pressure gage 0-100 psi, high pressure fuel hose, fittings. Start engine with fuel by pass pressure around 50 and adjust it downward until engine rpm increases. Next go the opposite direction upwards until the rpm starts to drop from being too rich or the engine starts missing. Again the right way is dyno and the best way is to go Guhl... You will not fully be able to take advantage of the alcohol because you have to advance the ignition for starters without the Power Commander. More tracks are requiring the use of alcohol over gas for safety reasons too!

Well you could always go back to carbs instead of fuel injection and fool around with sticking floats etc. It still is a Pain In The A** regardless. Still requires advancing the ignition timing for alky for starters. You still have to pump out the alky and recirculate gas. All I want for Christmas is a HANs neck protector Santa...:)

good stuff guys , yes we will be using power commander ,and dyno tuning , been doing gas motor"s in house for many year"s , but the alky stuff is new and i"d just like too get a handel on it my self if at all poss.....and thanks a bunch for the info moving forward on this very well , lets here some more if anyone else has done this them selfs !

Ross you might try our Bazzaz that will off-set the cost of going to the dyno. We have sold many units this year with nothing but happy customers. It is a self tuning system. And I would be happy to spend all the time you need getting you up to speed on alcohol injection.
