We have a rookie driver and we are comparing motors. Is the 250cc motors that they run any more durable then the 270 motors? We are looking for motors that are more durable but will fit on a 270 chassis. Can anybody help?

We ran a 93 Suzuki 250 big bore our 1st year or 2. Many top 5's with it. Most reliable motor had. That thing could take a severe beating. Never had bottom end rebuilt and ran it about 50 races or so. Motor was great torque motor for short tracks but had no top end on bigger tracks. But a Honda is a totally different animal. Any motor can be made sorta reliable if your jet the carb right. Go rich on carb settings and go fast but sorta dependable or Lean it out to go faster and a better chance of burning the piston . I run on rich side and burned piston one time due to a cracked reed cage boot.

Like mod 12 said if you want a durable motor keep the jetting on the rich side and keep up on regular maintance on the motor. Like top end rebuild, fuel pump rebuild, clean fuel filter etc... just keep on top of everything that way there is no room for anthing to give out on you.
