JORDAN WINS GENESEE 6/21
Young Ryan Jordan from Dryden, NY is becoming a regular face in the winner circle in 2008. Jordan took his Hyper Chassis to the winners circle once again Saturday evening at the Genesee Speedway for his 3rd NYMM feature win in the 2008 season already. Jordan got out from early from his 3rd starting position and never looked back. After the drivers brought it around for lap 1, Jordan would nose out then leader Dave Ferguson and go on to lead the remaining 25 laps.
“It was a little better on the bottom. I got to thank my Dad for putting in a great set up for me tonight” Ryan told the crowd.
Finishing second was long time modified midget driver Jim Lafler who worked his way up from the 6 spot in his 14 year old Lafler Chassis. Lafler tried to catch Jordan, but to no avail. Even after a mid race restart, Jordan would just pull away from the veteran Lafler.
“I’ll take second place tonight” – said Lafler “Ryan really looked good. He was set up perfect. He was just cruising”
One of the major stories of the night was the #45 of Dave Ferguson who ran the whole race with no steering. Unnoticed to the crowd, you never would have known young Ferguson had any issues with his #45 machine.
“My front end is broken on it (the car)…I had to slam on the break just to get the tire to grab” said an excited Ferguson.
Rounding out the top 5 was the #31 Eric Schwartz machine, who had his best NYMM feature finish in his young career. Eric battled with the steeringless Ferguson for much of the race, but just couldn’t get by Ferguson. Both drivers provided for some exciting racing action. Finishing 5th was 23x of Mickey Ciliberto who after his heat never would have expected a top 5 finish. Mickey, unknown to most, had car issues during his heat which cause him to spin out 3 times in 3 tries at turn 1. But the only thing turning around in the feature was the other driver’s heads as Mickey moved up 10 spots from his 15th starting position.
