Brickerville, PA - Mother Nature finally smiled on Lanco's Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway on Saturday night, allowing the two remaining features from May 17 to be completed, along with the regularly scheduled program of Micro-Sprint racing.
The 25-lap main events postponed from May 17 were captured by Richie Hartman (270cc Two-Strokes) and Craig DeSantis (250cc Four-Strokes). After some near-misses, Hartman picked up his first 270cc victory of the season at the Clyde. DeSantis notched his third triumph of 2008 in the Four-Stroke division.
A total of 128 micros, spread across the five different classes, took part in the regular show, with the cameras of Blue Ridge Cable 11 recording all five features. Heath Hehnly registered his second victory of '08 in the 270cc Two-Stroke main event, while a couple of youthful campaigners recorded the first feature wins of their Lanco careers. Brent Ely, who was involved in a wild flip on May 3rd 30that sidelined him for about a month, scored his initial Clyde Martin triumph in the 600cc main event. In the 25-lapper for the 125cc micros, Nathan Weidman led all the way, finally shedding the horrible luck that has plagued him for the past few seasons.
DeSantis capped off a perfect night in the 250cc Four-Strokes, beginning with his victory in the make-up feature, followed by a win in his heat race, then the regularly scheduled 25-lapper for that division. Saturday's third and fourth victories of the season propelled DeSantis back into the thick of the Four-Stroke point race after a couple of blown engines early in the year left him mired near the back of the pack.
Kenny Miller of Birdsboro, PA, nabbed his second win of the season in the Sportsman feature.
RTS Chassis of Reading, PA, sponsored the regularly scheduled portion of the action-packed evening of Micro-Sprint competition.
