Does the rule apply to heat races or just the mains.

It applies to all races, heats, features, and consi.

It also applies to the wingless challenge race.
600's need to use the Showdown/Speedweek spec right rear and the Sidewinders need to use their normal spec right rear. ( to save on costs associated with "special tires".
All other tires are open for both classes for the wingless portion.

JMO, if big $ shows are going to mandate @ least a tire, let it be to the Driver's discretion which tire it will be!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The idea of a Spec tire is not to let the racers choose what tire to run. As racers we don't always make the most economical choice. The racers who have raced with spec tires know how much money it saves. Not only that a harder tire at times makes it harder to keep the car hooked up. Making the set-up and driver much more important.

Jason, while I agree with most of your reply to me, I have to stipulate the fact that we all can vary tire characteristics! All it takes is to soak a tire in oil to soften (oil breaks down rubber)! Oil, I have never seen as listed softening agent, thus disallowed!!!! IMO, requiring drivers run certain makes and compounds only benefits that particular tire manufacturer (monopolizing market even more)!!!!!!! I may be wrong, but JMO!

The Showdown/Speedweek rule doesn't limit a racers choice to manufacturer, either Hoosier or American Racer is allowed. Second, there's a durometer rule so someone using a softener, regardless of what it is, is probably going to be caught. Third, I can almost guarantee two of the races everyone was going to end up on the "spec" tire anyway and with the car counts expected it wouldn't surprise me if some of the other tracks rubber up as well.

Easy there Meanie...
They we surely be using a durometer tester for the tires. per the speedweek rules, "the RR tire must durometer at least 50 after the feature". Hell you could use a 3 year old D10 if you want, as long as the tire durometer measures 50 or more...

Let's clarify that the tire must durometer 50 before and after all races, not just after the feature.

Mike- Is this going to be checked randomly, or on a schedule, 100% of racers?
More curious than anything...
If a Hoosier d35 durometers 50+ is it ok to use it?

Who will have the tech tools at each event? Track tech crew or a specific speedweek tech crew? Specific name(s) will be helpful to those who have outstanding questions at the racetrack prior to the event starting. No sense in assuming that something is OK. Will the same tools be used at every event?

Tires on car may be Hoosier or American Racer Tires.
Right Rear tire must be a Hoosier NMMA, Hoosier ASCS#2 or an American Racer MD57 and must durometer at least 50, both before and after the race (15 minute cool down will be allowed after the feature before being checked).
What is a Hoosier ASCS#2 never heard of that? Is it a new tire?
