May 8th Path Valley – Young proves new chassis is right on Target!
On yet another rain threatened Friday afternoon, the Path Valley track crew performed a small miracle after an afternoon shower swept over the track at around 4.00pm. With the track soft and moist the heat races were a wide open affair, with Alex Schanz and Chad Hough leading the way to win the heats.
Come feature time, the front row of Jim Young and Craig Myers put on an exhibition for the first 10 laps running side by side, with Young on the low side and Myers running the top. Just over ½ way, Myers began to slow allowing Young to build a handy lead. All eyes were then on Jesse Snyder. Snyder was charging from his 7th starting position, taking 3 rd on lap 14, then 2nd on lap 16. Snyder needed a caution, but none came with the Sidewinders running caution free, allowing Young to take victory in his self-built Target Chassis.
Jim explained in victory lane, “After years of driving these cars, I thought I could build my own with some of my own ideas. And this year I am sharing the car with Sean McAndrew and we have both won a race in this new chassis. We are improving it each week, learning what it likes and it is getting faster.” Jim went on to say “These 1000cc engines are so much more fun to drive. The extra torque makes the throttle control much more important. It was a lot of fun running with Craig for so many laps side by side.”

This week’s question ;
Q. Will the ever improving Joe Robertson finally get his break through win ?
A. Not tonight, Joe had injection problems all night and for the first time this year, was not a factor.
Next Week’s Question;
Q. With both races being points races and each night paying $500 to win, can someone walk away with a cool $1000 by winning both ?
