Can we just type in the URL of our previous avatar on old site?

If the avatar is saved to the old Micro-sprint forums I am guessing that it will eventually be deleted when everyone migrates to this forum. Your best bet would be to save the avatar to your computer, then go to the "Edit Avatar" section in your profile and just upload it to this forum. It needs to be 100 x 100 pixels in size maximum.

I would like to add, if the avatar is currently hosted on a website other than the old forums, you should just be able to type in the URL in the "Edit Avatar" section and it should appear just as it was on the old forum.

(Not trying to sound like a know it all, just helping) :)

Maniac is correct.

Eventually in time the other forums will be gone as the domain name will be moved from the shared hosting where it is now to the dedicated server that these forums are on.

As you can see Maniac, your advice did work! I saved it to my pictures from old Forum profile. I had to size it down about 10% fo keep in size with the board wishes. Thanks Again! MEANGENE

When you go to the dedicated server instead of shared server will it speed load times @ all??? Like the new site and nice yer kinda letting us help you build it! But, I still have dial-up connection and if the economy keeps going as is, I expect alot more folks to be there as well!! MEANGENE

Actually a dedicated server from what I remember will only allow you to bring a lot more organization for the website itself. Through the forum software you can manage everything in a file structure that is almost like Windows.

What it won't do for you is increase your speed since you are still on a dial up connection. (Not a cut on you) It may increase speed for those of us on a higher speed connection but not much. The throughput is still the same on your end (56k), but may be slightly higher on this end.

The real advantage is what you see being used for the forum software. The vBulletin software that's being used here is one of the best program packages out there and it's pretty "lag free" if you get my drift. So that alone should help out your load times Gene.

When developing the website we do keep dial-up and slower speed dsl members in mind. You will see this even more relevant when the rest of the website goes up. We will never inodiate members with a page full of graphical advertisements that has to be scrolled past before getting to a link or some meaningful content to read.

On the same token it is our great sponsors who allow us to keep the lights on here and that light bill has gone up substantially with the move to a high end dedicated server and commercial forum software. Thus you will see sponsors ads as non-intrusively placed throughout the website and forums as possible.

But in the end it is the members who patronize our great sponsors and spread the word about the community we are creating here that count the most. Without all of you there would be no way we could do any of this nor a reason to.

I guess I am going to be to blame for some of my slow load times!!! Every week or so I run virus scan and quite often delete cookies and temp files as a precaution!!!!!! Site has seemed to be faster after the initial couple log-ons!!!!!! MEANGENE
