T-Minus 2 Days To Lanco's Labor Day Shootout...

Rutherford & Maurer Have "Owned the Show" Over Past 10 Years...

Over the past 10 years (2007 - 2016), although many drivers have tasted the spoils of victory during the Labor Day Shootout at Lanco's Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway, two throttle-jockeys have mastered the annual 30-lap affairs.

Mike Rutherford, "the Master of the Micros", has earned Shootout victories in four different divisions in the past ten seasons. Rutherford has a total of 11 wins in the Labor Day classic over the last ten years, winning four times in winged 600cc competition, three times in winged 270cc action, three more triumphs in Sportsman A-Mains, and a single victory in 250cc Four-Stroke Shootouts. That Four-Stroke triumph occurred in 2007, when he won four of the five A-Mains run on Labor Day weekend.

The only driver to defeat Rutherford in '07 was Jesse Maurer, who won his first of seven A-Mains in the 125cc portion of the Shootout over the past 10 years. Maurer also has a 2014 victory in the winged 270cc feature, giving him a total of eight Shootout wins since that first 125cc checkered in 2007.

Last season's winners included Tim Buckwalter (wingless 600's); Heath Hehnly (winged 600's); Mike Skias (winged 270cc); Kyle Spence (wingless 270cc); Mike Coen (Four-Strokes); William Manotti (125cc); and Rutherford (Sportsman).

This Saturday, we find out who will be this year's winged victors, while Sunday will produce the wingless winners, along with the All Star Slingshots "Showdown at Sundown" victor.

Gates open at 2 p.m. on both days of the Shootout. Pill draw ends at 3:30 and a driver's meeting will be held at that time. Warm-ups get underway at 3:45, and the first heat race takes the green at 4:30.

Adult general admission is $10 each day, with a $4.00 discount for Senior Citizens and Students. Youth between the ages of six and 12 are just $2.00, and children under the age of six are free. Pit passes are $30 per person per day. Car entry is $60/car/class. There is no pre-registration required.

Monday, September 4, serves as a rain date for the Shootout.

There are a limited number of camping spaces available for the Labor Day Shootout weekend; the camping fee is $25 per space for the entire weekend. Advanced reservations are needed in order to camp at the track. Campers will be allowed to move in after 6 p.m. on Thursday, August 31. To reserve a camping spot, please contact Chris Snyder at race26@icloud.com.
