  • Rear axel wobble

I had noticed my rear axel was wobbling around the brake birdcage. Pretty subtle, but enough to notice the caliber moving side to side. I replaced all the bearings and I still have the wobble. I'm very sure the axel is not bent, but maybe it is. Is the slight wobble normal?

Check to see if your brake rotor is warped if the wobble is only at the birdcage with the caliper on it. If the axle is still on the car remove the caliper from the birdcage, remove the brake rotor and hub, put a spacer on the axle the same size as the hub, put the caliper back on and tighten the axle nuts and spin it. And yes it happened to me before.

It's normal. Even brand new axles & bearings will wobble around the cages/brake floater.

Check for cracked or mushroomed spacers if it seems excessive.
