  • Xcel chassis announces new junior modified division

Everyone needs to start somewhere. The Xcel Chassis Junior Modified division will be a great learning experience for the young and the young at heart. Doug Borger, owner of Xcel Chassis, wants to bring the fundamentals of racing back to the front. ?It shouldn?t be about how much money can be spent, it should be how much time can be spent learning. The junior division will have a minimum age limit of 6 yrs. and up. What is great is that a father who might have a 600 modified can buy the motor and mounting plate and have a car for the next night of racing. I have some drivers coming out of retirement to run the junior division. It will be interesting to see if the division will have the oldest rookie for 2018.?
Penn Can Speedway will host the new division, Friday nights, on the new short track. Saturday nights will see the juniors at Five Mile Point Speedway?s short track. A rental program is being developed and information will be released shortly.
The only difference between the 600 modified and junior modified is the motor package. A motor mount plate must be purchased and is required. The motor is a 2 cyl. Predator motor with a centrifugal clutch. A #40 chain and pump gas are also mandatory. No fuel pump or radiator is needed. The motor is in the same location as in the 600 modified.
What also will be different is the motor program. Xcel Chassis owns all motors for the junior division. A competitor can lease a motor for one year. Included in the lease will be oil and oil filters for the year. Xcel Chassis will also be responsible for all repairs to the motor. The cost for the lease program will be a fee of $700.00 and the motor must be returned at the end of the year.
Xcel Chassis junior modifieds can grow as the driver grows. Borger has fabricated a gas and brake pedal extender that has been used for over 5 years and can be installed easily so the driver will be comfortable and safe.

If you ever thought about getting into racing or have your child involved, now is the time to take the leap. There is no better way to spend time with family than a Friday night under the race track lights. Contact Doug Borger at 610-681-2689 to get your racing program started.
